Sold for the price of a pig, trained into the most expensive male escort in the empire, Hasheem the Silver Sparrow of Azalea finds himself hunted by the entire peninsula one night and decides to flee into the forbidden side of the desert. There, he is captured by Djari, the dutiful daughter of a tribe leader who drags him into the centuries-long war between her people and an empire, unaware of Fate’s grand design her oracle brother refuses to reveal.

On the other side of the war, Zahara, the captured bride of the empire’s ruler, discovers her husband’s greatest weakness after two decades of living to see him die. To utilize this knowledge, she must decide if she can sacrifice her pride in exchange for the power to change the outcome of the war. Meanwhile, their wayward son’s indecision on which land to fight for throws everything into chaos, and a mysterious mastermind lurks behind them all to make sure everyone dances to his elaborate tune.

A tale of humanity that unflinchingly explores the darker aspects of human nature, the complexity of interpersonal relationships, and the brutal, agonizing choices they are forced to make for love, honor, and loyalty.
