Sleep by C.L.Taylor. Narrated by Clare Corbett (2019)

Summary

All Anna wants is to be able to sleep. But crushing insomnia, terrifying night terrors and memories of that terrible night are making it impossible. If only she didn’t feel so guilty....
To escape her past, Anna takes a job at a hotel on the remote Scottish island of Rum, but when seven guests join her, what started as a retreat from the world turns into a deadly nightmare.
Each of the guests has a secret, but one of them is lying - about who they are and why they're on the island. There's a murderer staying in the Bay View hotel. And they've set their sights on Anna.
Seven strangers. Seven secrets. One deadly lie.
Someone’s going to sleep and never wake up....

                                                  Review
Hooked from the very first chapter!
The opening chapters reeled me in very quickly. I felt for Anna and I experienced all her pain, confusion, fear and guilt along with her.
I loved the atmospheric tension and the build-up of suspense on the island. It made the perfect setting. I could feel the sense of danger surrounding Anna right from the beginning and it made for compelling listening. I just had to know what was going to happen next. I couldn't put the book down and I ended up listening to it over the course of one day.
A suspenseful read brought to life by an excellent narrator. Clare Corbett does a fantastic job of the accents and bringing all the characters to life. I will definitely watch out for more of her work!
Sleep is a psychological thriller with plenty of twists typical of the genre. Even though I was waiting for them I was still taken by surprise as the twists in the story were so cleverly written. No spoilers- you will just have to read and see. you won't be disappointed.
