After absolutely loving Alcatraz for the Rich and awarding it five stars for sheer enjoyment and escapist reading, I was excited to dive into Addicted to Love. Thankfully, this sequel delivered the same entertaining reading experience and kept me eagerly turning the pages.

One of the standout aspects of the novel for me was Maisey. She continues to prove what a strong and resilient woman she is, making difficult choices while holding on to her sense of self-worth and dignity. Even when faced with challenging circumstances, she refuses to lose sight of who she is, and I admired her all the more for it.

On the other hand, I never really warmed to Beau. If anything, this installment left me even more convinced that he's likely to cause trouble in the future. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a much bigger problem in the next book.

I was a little disappointed that there wasn't more of Otto in this installment, as I really enjoyed his presence in the first book. That said, I loved the way he continued to keep a protective eye on Maisey from behind the scenes. Watching him slowly acknowledge his feelings for her was one of my favourite parts of the story, and I have a feeling he's going to be completely wrapped around her finger before long. I'm also hoping we'll see much more of his ruthless alpha side in the next book, especially if he has to slay a few dragons to keep Maisey by his side.

The ending caught me completely by surprise. It was an excellent cliffhanger that left me desperate to know what happens next and genuinely excited for the next installment.

Overall, Addicted to Love was another thoroughly entertaining read that kept me invested from beginning to end. While I would have loved more Otto, the character development, drama, and unexpected ending have left me eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

Some poetry collections make you pause for a moment, while others linger long after you've closed the book. The Blooms That Fall was very much the latter for me. Thought-provoking, reflective, and beautifully observant, this collection invited me to slow down and pay closer attention to the natural world around me.

Throughout the poems, nature is not simply used as a backdrop but becomes a lens through which we can examine ourselves, our relationships, and our place in the world. The collection continually encouraged me to look beyond the rush of everyday life and reconnect with the beauty, resilience, and lessons found in the natural environment.

There is a quiet power running through these poems. They ask questions rather than provide easy answers, leaving space for readers to draw their own interpretations and reflections. I found myself returning to certain lines, considering them long after I'd finished reading, which is always a sign of impactful poetry for me.

My favourite poem was Nature Doesn't Apologise. While I won't delve too deeply into it, it reminded me that nature exists unapologetically, changing with the seasons and adapting without seeking permission or approval. That message felt particularly powerful and resonated long after I turned the final page.

Overall, The Blooms That Fall is a thoughtful and engaging collection that celebrates the natural world while encouraging readers to reflect on their own lives and connections. If you enjoy poetry that inspires contemplation and fosters a deeper appreciation for nature, this collection is well worth reading.

His Duchess Under the Mistletoe is a heartwarming Christmas romance that delivers a satisfying slow-burn second-chance love story set against a festive backdrop.

I really liked both main characters, particularly Trudy. Her determination to pursue a career in science and make her mark in a field that often overlooked women made her an engaging and admirable heroine. I loved seeing her intelligence, ambition, and passion shine throughout the story. It was also refreshing to see the secondary characters listen to her ideas, value her contributions, and encourage her ambitions.

While I liked Sully overall, I struggled with the fact that he abandoned Trudy without a word in the past. It was a painful betrayal, and I was glad the story didn't let him off the hook easily. Watching him work to regain Trudy's trust made their eventual reconciliation feel earned and much more satisfying.

One of my favourite aspects of the story was how Trudy's scientific ambitions intersected with Sully's work at the museum. It created an interesting and believable way for them to reconnect and spend time together again. Their shared interests gave depth to their relationship beyond the romance and provided a strong foundation for their second chance.

The Christmas setting added plenty of warmth and charm to the story. The preparations for the Christmas ball and Trudy's extended stay over the festive season created the perfect opportunity for the pair to remain in close proximity, gradually rebuilding their connection. The slow-burn romance unfolded naturally as they spent more time together, allowing old wounds to heal and new feelings to emerge.

Overall, His Duchess Under the Mistletoe is a cosy, festive romance filled with warmth, family, second chances, and personal ambition. With a likeable heroine, a hero who has to earn his redemption, and plenty of Christmas spirit, it's an enjoyable seasonal read that leaves you with that comforting holiday feeling.

Absolutely brilliant. A high-stakes, drama-filled thriller that kept me gripped from start to finish. The K‑9 rescue dog was a standout, and I loved how his abilities were showcased throughout the story. The rescue of the kidnapped child is the true driving force of the plot, and those scenes were tense, urgent, and incredibly compelling.

The romance was a nice side thread, but the real power of the book lies in the dangerous pursuit of the child’s father, a quick‑tempered man with military training and expertise in explosives, making every encounter feel risky and unpredictable.

Fast‑paced, emotional, and packed with suspense, this was a thoroughly enjoyable read.

The One Who Walked Away by Karen Rose

The opening was sharp, tense, and dramatic, but the momentum didn’t quite hold. After that gripping start, the rest of the plot felt drawn out, and while the revenge motive made sense, the method itself seemed a bit unrealistic. I never fully felt the emotional pull between Elle and Ronan, though I did enjoy both characters and the cute way they brought each other snacks. I especially liked Ronan’s relationship with his daughter, which added warmth and heart to the story.

There were some genuinely tense moments of suspense toward the end, making this a solid and enjoyable 3 star read. New readers discovering Karen Rose for the first time may find her earlier novels showcase her strongest work.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. The duet narration (my favourite) brought a lovely warmth to the story and captured the characters’ personalities beautifully. Their performances made the whole experience easy to sink into and kept me engaged throughout.

There were a few genuinely funny scenes that added a nice lift to the story. One of my favourites was the interview segment where Taylor and Alexander recorded their confession pieces. Their opinions on each other were hilarious, and I was fully expecting the whole thing to blow up in their faces once it aired, but thankfully, it didn’t. I also loved the shady production sabotage and behind‑the‑scenes manipulations woven into the plot. Reality shows are never as straightforward as they seem, and the book captured that perfectly.

The sweet, heartfelt ending was a real highlight for me. It wrapped everything up in a gentle, satisfying way that left me smiling. Overall, this was a charming and enjoyable listen with narration that genuinely enhances the story.

I really enjoyed listening to Lucky Haven. Cash and Haven’s long history gives the story a lovely emotional foundation, especially with Cash having quietly carried feelings for her since their school days. That long‑standing connection makes their romance feel genuine and deeply rooted, and it’s easy to get invested in them finally finding their way to each other.

The duet narration adds an extra emotional layer to the experience. Hearing both voices brings out the tension, the longing, and the softer moments in a way that suits this story perfectly. It makes Cash’s devotion feel even more heartfelt and Haven’s uncertainty more relatable.

Cash and Haven are adorable together, though Haven’s cluelessness, particularly for someone in her thirties, is both endearing and occasionally amusing. It fits her sheltered, slightly oblivious personality, and Cash’s steadiness balances her well.

There’s a good mix of romance and suspense throughout, enough to keep the plot moving without overshadowing the relationship. The danger element adds stakes and keeps the story engaging.

Overall, Lucky Haven is a warm, satisfying listen with great chemistry, strong narration, and a blend of sweetness and tension that works beautifully.

The Last Rift Dragon is an excellent fantasy adventure, charged with magic that had me glued to the page and my earbuds from the very first chapter. With the shocking events in the early chapters, it propels the reader into a world where the stakes are high and the danger is constant. The world Shami Stovall has created feels rich, vibrant, and full of heart. I listened to the audiobook and was completely swept away. Luke Daniels delivers a phenomenal performance, bringing every character to life with energy, nuance, and emotion. His range of voice and accent is vast. Every character sounds like a completely different person speaking and it was fantastic to listen to. The narration adds a cinematic quality to the story and action scenes. 

One of my favourite elements was watching the Knights bond with their dragons and receive their magic. Each Knight’s ability is unique, and knowing how important those powers would become during the life and death moments of the battle scenes added a wonderful layer of anticipation. The dragon lore is imaginative and beautifully woven into the worldbuilding, making every new reveal feel exciting. I also liked that the weaker, damaged dragon was included and needed.

Richter’s storyline is very compelling. His bond with a very special dragon brings both wonder to the narrative, and I loved following his journey as he faced danger, betrayal, and the responsibility that comes with newfound power. The relationship between rider and dragon is a highly pleasing feature of the book and one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much.

The Last Rift Dragon is a fantastic start to a new fantasy series. Fast‑paced and full of magic, danger, and heart. The audiobook is superb, and I’m already looking forward to diving into the next instalment.

This was such an uplifting and entertaining rom-com. Elle is wonderfully unhinged in the sweetest way, and her energetic charm pairs beautifully with Oliver’s tightly‑wound personality. Their meet‑cute, complete with Thor’s sad whining and crying was an absolute highlight and instantly hooked me.

The dynamic between Elle and Oliver is irresistible. Their banter feels effortless, their day‑trip adventures are full of warmth and humour, and the gradual shift from friendship to something deeper is handled nicely. Oliver’s internal struggle and slow realisation of his feelings were especially satisfying to watch unfold.

With a lovable dog, supportive friends, and two leads who complement each other perfectly, this is a delightful, funny romance that left me smiling.

Author Bio – Cristina Wolf wrote her first book in the third grade. It was an adventure book about her beagle, Abby, complete with hand-drawn illustrations and top-notch handwriting. Needless to say, writing and reading has been a passion of Cristina’s from the beginning. After graduating from Marist College with a double major in Business and English, Cristina pursued a career in the publishing industry while earning her Master of Science in Publishing from New York University. Cristina has experience working at literary agencies and as an editorial assistant at a publishing house. Finding life in NYC a bit different than she expected, Cristina returned to her native New Jersey where she earned her Master in Teaching from Monmouth University. She now shares her love of books with her students as a middle school English teacher.
